1991:Mr. Yamashita showing the Teamaster Temomi-skill to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan.


May, 1934Born in Fugenji, Kyotanabe ( Kyoto-Prefecture)
After graduation from junior high school, education in agriculture at his father's tea plantation.

19661966 Receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea catagory of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries ( the highest evaluating authority in Japan )

1970 At the young age of 36 receiving the "chairperson prize" of the national agriculture and forestry fishery promotion committee.
( Only 12 people nationwide received this pize.)
For the second time receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea catagory of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

1973Receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea category of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for the third time.

1979Receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea catagory of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for the fourth time.

1983Receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea catagory of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for the fifth time.

1989Receiving the authorized title of "master craftsman of Kyoto" ( Kyoto Prefecture )
Receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea catagory of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for the sixth time.

1990Receiving the title of "master craftsman of present Japan" ( authorized by the Japanese Ministry of Labor )

1991Photograph: Mr. Yamashita showing the Teamaster Temomi-skill to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

1992Receiving the green white ribbon prize (Ryokuhakujuyukoushou) for his outstanding contributions to Japanese agriculture.

1995The Prime Minister publicly bestows "the sixth class Isao Order of the Sacred Treasure" to Mr. Yamashita

2000Receiving first prize in the gyokuro green tea catagory of the national tea competition from Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for the seventh time.

Because of Mr.Yamashita's achievements his hometown Kyotanabe is now renowned for the production of superior Gyokuro and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries prize has been awarded many times to tea producers of this area.
Other than the above, Mr. Yamashita also won the "Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries" first prize for the Kansai region for 11 times.


The picture shows "the sixth class Isao Order of the Sacred Treasure" that was bestowed to Mr. Yamashita by the Prime Minister of Japan in 1995.

1990 The picture shows the "master craftsman of present Japan" certificate that was bestowed to Mr.Yamashita by the Ministry of Labor.
